Virtual Twist on a Book Tasting Gets RMS Students Excited about Reading!

RMS Librarian,  Lesley Nickelson and 6th Grade RELA teacher, Lynne Studdert collaborate to excite kids about reading
with a Virtual Book tasting!
Students watched book trailers in different genres and left with a print book or an eBook on SORA and a list of 5 other
"I want to read next" books.

RMS Students Celebrate School Library Month by reading and learning!

RMS students take ownership of their learning and practice the POG competencies:  Critical Thinking, Communication, and Personal Responsibility.

If you liked this book, then you might like these other recommendations by Mrs. Nickelson.

Technology meshes seamlessly with Reading @ RMS!
We Love to Read SORA eBooks on our Chromebooks!

So many Books, So little time!
SORA eBooks or Print Books!
The RMS Library personalizes learning to meet the needs of all students!
RMS 6th graders are excited to check out their new books!

Nonfiction Are Among us and flying off the shelves due to Librarian, Lesley Nickelson's new signage and marketing!

"I labeled and "genrefied" my non-fiction section so the kids might try checking out some of those books.  To promote it, I'm starting a contest.  Kids get a bookmark, read 5 nonfiction books, record the title then drop the bookmark in a bucket.  May 1st I'll pull from the bucket and give out prizes."

PBL at it's best! Students @ West Lake create a Travel App through library/hospitality class collaboration!

West Lake Middle School Librarian, Alyssa Lovell collaborated with Ms. Pasquale's Principles of Hospitality and Tourism class to teach App creation using Glide Apps.  Students programmed their own App to solve real world travel problems for other teenagers.

Glide App is a digital tool that teaches students research skills in order to solve real world pain points.

This Collaborative Lesson reinforces all 6  POG Competencies:  Leaders and Collaborators, Creative Innovators, Communicators, Critical Thinkers, and Personally Responsible Global Citizens.

Preventing Plagiarism!!!!! Alyssa Lovell teaches students to create a work cited using MLA documentation provided in our Texquest Databases to give credit for research information discovered.
