Derry Summer has a wonderful library at
Bear Branch Elementary.
She is great with Holidays and Arts and Crafts. When I visited, she made origami hearts with the students and celebrated
Chinese New Year,
Valentine's Day and
Mardi Gras.
It was so much fun!
Thanks Derry for all you do for the students at Bear Branch Elementary!

Anntoinette Brown at Oak Forest Elementary Library
Anntoinette's Library is so warm and inviting.
I really enjoyed seeing her students write book reviews and then type them into Destiny.
Her Principal loves her! As do we!!!!!
Great Book Fair idea!
Students made Valentine's Day Cards for
their teachers when their parents donated a book to their classroom.
Thanks Anntoinette for all you do!

Jarrett J. Krosoczka @ Foster Elementary
Foster Elementary Library: Lynn Sayer

I really enjoyed the presentation by Jarrett J. Krosoczka, author and illustrator of Punk Farm and The Lunch Lady as well as 30 other books.
He explained the writing and publishing process for picture books and graphic novels. And he shared how it took hard work and perseverance to achieve what he has accomplished. Thank you Lynn for inviting me to your school.

"Idea Corner" at Ridge Creek Elementary
This is a picture of a new idea that Vanesha Ford just incorporated into her library at Ridge Creek Elementary. It's
called an "Idea Wall" or corner.
What it is, is a place for
children to come and express their thoughts. The librarian writes the prompts
at the top of the page and the kids get to respond. Its really cool and her kids
loved it. She initiated this during her AR party, but it can be used at any time. She will change the prompts once a week.
Chalk was a little messier than she liked so another idea is to laminate the black paper and use chalk markers instead.
Thanks for Sharing Vanesha!
What a cool idea!
