"Idea Corner" at Ridge Creek Elementary

This is a picture of a new idea that Vanesha Ford just incorporated into her library at Ridge Creek Elementary.  It's called an "Idea Wall" or corner.

What it is, is a place for children to come and express their thoughts.  The librarian writes the prompts at the top of the page and the kids get to respond.  Its really cool and her kids loved it.  She initiated this during her AR party, but it can be used at any time.  She will change the prompts once a week.

Chalk was a little messier than she liked so another idea is to laminate the black paper and use chalk markers instead.

Thanks for Sharing Vanesha!
What a cool idea!

Unwrap the Gift of Reading @ AMS

The "Unwrap the Gift of Reading" program last year at AMS was a huge hit! Amanda Buschmann just finished setting it up for this year! She also added a Christmas tree and students/staff are writing their favorite books for the book garland. What a wonderful Holiday idea!  And she even enlisted her PTA to help out.
If you are doing any special Christmas/Holiday programs, please share with our Library Group.

I love this Book Garland!
So clever, Amanda!

Ridge Creek, Park Lakes and River Pines Elementary Libraries!

More Library Visits!  More Fun!

I was really impressed when I visited Ridge Creek, Park Lakes and River Pines Elementary Libraries.

I wish I was a student at these schools!

Vanesha Ford

Ridge Creek Elementary Library!

Hats off to Vanesha Ford:  Loved her Reader of the Week poster and collaboration with teachers.  They love her  at her school and I do too!

Tina Brown
Park Lakes Elementary Library
Tina makes her library so much fun.  Love her costume!  Her programming is amazing.  Ask her about her Booknic! I didn't want to leave!

 Amanda Garza
 River Pines Elementary Library
Amanda has a wonderful nonfiction reading section and her Destiny makes Frog sounds.  How creative is that?  She also has a Pen Pal writing program with students in her school.  Kudos!
